Prof. Dr. AHM Waliul Islam graduated from Rajshahi Medical College. After passing 8th BCS, he joined Government Service. Later he went to Japan under “Monobusho Scholarship” for higher study at Osaka University Medical School and obtained PhD in Cardiology in 1996. After completing 4yrs Post. Graduation courses and had extensive training in Cardiology from the same University.
Prof. Dr. Wali has more than 18 yrs. working experience at home and abroad in Clinical and Interventional Cardiology. Before joining Apollo Hospitals Dhaka, he was working as a Consultant Cardiologist at King Abdullah Hospital in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He is experienced with more than 7000 interventional procedures including Coronary Angiogram (CAG) and PCI (Strength) through “Trans-Radial”, “Trans – Femoral” and “Trans – Ulner” route. He is also experienced in performing Temporary and Permanent Pace Maker Implantation, AICD, CRT-D devices implantation with the Cardiac team of Apollo Heart Center.
He was a fellow of the National Cardiovascular Center (NCVC) in Osaka University of Japan. He has also learnt Complex Coronary Interventional procedures including PCI in small vessel and in CTO lesion, both through conventional and retrograde approach (CART).
He attended many scientific seminars and symposium as paper presenter, case presenter, Faculty and Panelist in USA, France, Japan, Singapore, Korea, Malaysia, India and Bangladesh. In addition, he is a life time member of Bangladesh Cardiac Society, Bangladesh Society of Cardiovascular interventions, American College of Cardiology & Royal College of Physician (Glasgow). In recognition of his contribution to Research & Academic activities, he has been honored as “Professor” by the Apollo Hospital’s Education & Research Foundation.
